One down, one more to go!

Now that I’ve finished my circle skirt, it’s time to start on the other project I had in mind when I got my fabric and other materials from Pins and Needles.

The snake print voile was fabric that my OH had, I’m not sure exactly where it came from, and while I’m normally not a big fan of snake print materials, the iridiscence of the fabric itself makes for a great sheer layer over lining.

I had already decided on making a maxi dress out of it, and lucky for me, I already bought a pattern which I can use for what I have in mind.

I have already decided that to give it a little extra touch (which gives each of my garments a little something extra special) to put an exposed contrasting dark grey zip instead of the hidden zip which would give it a more subtle, elegant look. I imagine it would be a great summer dress as well as one that I can dress up and wear to an evening event with the right accessories and heels. For a more casual look, the style itself will look somewhat like Suzannah’s in her Adventures in Dressmaking blog, although mine would be grey with snake print voile.

What are your thoughts on the dress? Would it be a good combination of colour for the lining with the voile for a maxi dress?
